Waterbreak during training

Sorry i'm a couple of years late to this resting forum, but i'll try anyway.
At the dojo i was active there was this policy of no drink pauses, i didnt suffer from it but i dont know if i actually benefitted from it either.
Anyway, i think it in a way might have to do with building mental endurance kind of- mind over matter. Or its a no pain no gain thing ?
Interesting is how training here in china there are no such -no drinking- rule, at least not among the teachers i'm involved with, but then we don't train in any dojo/wuguan, the closest to any such is the traing with my teacher in beijing where we practise in his living room and there we have tea brakes all the time - i've learned a lot about tea during my kung fu training smile Rick

I have heard of instructors and "masters" who run their dojo training so-called "military style" trying to turn geeks into supermen and do not allow drinking of water during a two-hour session! Inhumane..... Do they really think they can achieve something with that ? Anyone who's ACTUALLY benefited from that is very welcome to post here and share.
